To all employees: I’d like to make you aware of an important opportunity to participate in your own Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) project. Do you have an idea for which a little start-up support might make a big difference to the future of the laboratory?

A call for proposals has been issued! LDRD is open to all employees with novel ideas at the forefront of science and technology, outside of current programmatic activities, and aligned with the mission and strategic goals of the laboratory and DOE. LDRD provides initial funding to try out your new idea. Projects are awarded on the basis of a competitive review and selection process and require the support of your supervisor and Division management.

More details can be found on the LDRD website, including a template for the brief preliminary proposal due Sept. 8. More information can be obtained at an LDRD information session on July 25 at 12 p.m. in Curia II (WH2SW). You can also contact me (wester@fnal.gov) for more information.

William Wester is the Fermilab LDRD coordinator.
