Alison Markovitz, former director of the Department of Energy’s Laboratory Operations Board and senior advisor to the Energy Secretary, will join Fermilab in September as the lab’s first chief strategic partnerships officer. Markovitz holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and worked as a lawyer in private practice before joining the White House as a deputy associate counsel. Her career at DOE included managing DOE’s Office of the Executive Secretariat and serving as the acting chief of staff and senior advisor to the Deputy Secretary before assuming leadership of the Laboratory Operations Board. Markovitz’s new role at Fermilab will include managing the Resource Review Board and Cost Group for the Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility and Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment.
