Fermilab a 40-year member of NAACP

In December 1978, Fermilab became a life member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The membership is a testimony to the lab’s strong support for equality, civil rights and “the foundation principles of the American republic.” This month marks the 40th anniversary of the lab’s membership.

The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination. Its vision is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.
