For about one week last month, an all-women trio made up the Dark Energy Survey observing team at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile. They were, from left: Elizabeth Buckley-Geer of Fermilab, Marisa March from the University of Pennsylvania and Yuan-Yuan Zhang from the University of Michigan. Members of the DES collaboration take turns traveling to CTIO to take part in the observing shifts, which can last between four and eight nights, and occasionally longer.
