The IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Particle Accelerator Science and Technology Technical Committee (PAST) has awarded Fermilab scientist Sam Posen the 2016 IEEE PAST Doctoral Student Award for his contributions to the development of niobium-tin superconducting radio-frequency accelerator cavities. Posen conducted his doctoral research at Cornell University.

The IEEE PAST Committee established the award to recognize significant and innovative technical contributions to the field of particle accelerator science and technology as demonstrated in a student’s doctoral thesis.

The PAST awards will be presented at the 2016 North America Particle Accelerator Conference, which will be held in Chicago from Oct 9-14.

Congratulations to Sam Posen.
