This Week: Users Meeting, New Perspectives, vendor exhibition

The 49th Annual Fermilab Users Meeting from June 15-16 is approaching quickly. While the main components of the meeting will be familiar, the event has taken on a new and exciting approach to give attendees a sense of the future that Fermilab is paving.

Over the course of two days, Fermilab researchers and users will have time to learn about the state of the laboratory and experiments, find out about new advances in theoretical physics, as well as learn about the broad variety of services that Fermilab and its divisions provide for the user community.

For the first time ever, we will host a vendor exhibition during the meeting. Companies will have the opportunity to present their state-of-the-art equipment and new industry advances to the user community. Everyone will be able to enjoy coffee at the Early Morning Coffee Corner to meet and greet the vendors as well as friends coming to town for the Users Meeting.

As a preamble to the Users Meeting, on Monday June 13-14, the Fermilab Student and Postdoc Association will hold its annual New Perspectives Conference for graduate students, postdocs, and undergrads to present their work to an audience of peers in a low-pressure environment.

The traditional Festa Italiana will mark the beginning of the 2016 Users Meeting on the evening of Tuesday, June 14, starting at 8 p.m. in the Kuhn Barn. Attendees are invited to come socialize with other Fermilab users over food and beverages.

Thomas Strauss is the Fermilab 2016 Users Meeting co-chair.
