Fermilab scientist William “Bill” M. Lee, 51, of Downers Grove died on Saturday, July 30, after a long illness.
Lee joined Fermilab first as a guest scientist in 2006; he later became a full-time employee. He coordinated operation of the DZero detector and contributed to the operation of neutrino experiments. He also conducted public outreach activities.
Visitation for Bill Lee will take place on Friday, Aug. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. Both will be held at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1125 Franklin St., Downers Grove IL 60515. In lieu of flowers, Lee asked that donations be made to Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, his church home for 16 years, or to Embrace the Dream Foundation, PO Box 5558, Greenville SC 29606, a charity established by Bill’s father to support an orphanage in rural Mexico.
