Bruce Wilson has been at Fermilab for nearly three decades, working in the Accelerator Division on cryogenic systems. Now, after 28 years, he retires. His last day at the laboratory is Oct. 28.
Since coming to Fermilab, Wilson has helped keep everything cool, working on the maintenance of cryogenic instrumentation for accelerator systems. Specifically, he helps maintain helium screw compressors and pond water-cooling systems. This requires him to work in oxygen-deficient hazard areas and with heat exchangers, which are cooled with pond water.
Wilson is no stranger to fun. After retirement, Wilson plans to camp, travel, motorcycle in the area, and fly his ultralight. A brown belt in kyuki-do, he’ll continue to sharpen those skills post-Fermilab. He also plans to spend more time with good friends.
A party for Wilson will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Ach-n-Lou`s Pizza Pub, 1592 N. Farnsworth, Aurora. If you’d like to attend, you can call in your order when they open at 11 a.m. at 630-898-2626. (Lunch will be Dutch treat.) For questions about the lunch, contact Jeff Spencer at x4248.
