Universities Research Association Inc. (URA) has announced a deadline of Monday, Feb. 27, for the submission of applications for the spring 2017 cycle of awards in the URA Visiting Scholars Program (VSP).

Beginning with this award cycle, applications must be submitted online at the URA Visiting Scholars Program website. To register, please go to the VSP site: http://www.ura-hq.org/vsp/wp-login.php?action=register.

Applicants will be asked to provide a username and email address. A registration confirmation and password will be sent to the email address submitted, providing access to the URA VSP site. Applicants should anticipate notification of award decisions by the end of March 2017.

The URA Visiting Scholars Award Program is supported by contributions from the 89 URA-member universities. The VSP awards provide financial support for faculty and students from URA’s member universities to work at Fermilab for periods of up to one year. URA makes two rounds of awards each year, in the spring and fall. The application deadline for the fall 2017 cycle is Aug. 28, 2017.

Proposed visits can range from attendance at conferences or summer schools held at Fermilab to year-long research stays. Support from this program can include transportation costs and local lodging expenses during a series of shorter visits or salary support during a longer visit. Individual awardees may receive up to a maximum of $50,000 in any 12-month period, with a lifetime maximum award total of $50,000 per individual.
