Fermilab KCA service to be turned off Tuesday, Jan. 31

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Computing will turn off the Fermilab KCA service on Tuesday, Jan. 31. With the exception of DocDB, there should not be any Fermilab websites, applications or services that currently require a KCA certificate for access. Computing is in the final stage of transitioning DocDB users off of KCA certificates.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?

  • Computing will support the KCA service on a best-effort basis until Jan. 31.
  • Starting Jan. 31, you will not be able to obtain a Fermilab KCA certificate.

 

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

All employees:

  • If you notice that any of the Fermilab websites, applications or services you use (except DocDB) still require a KCA certificate, submit a Service Desk ticket immediately so they can be transitioned to a different form of authentication as soon as possible. Otherwise, your access will be disrupted after Jan. 31.

DocDB users:

  • If you use a KCA certificate to access DocDB, you should have received emailed instructions detailing how to transition to a new method of authentication. If you did not receive the instructions or if you have questions, please contact your DocDB instance administrator as soon as possible.

Scientific users:

  • All Fermilab experiments have been transitioned to CILogon Basic CA. Individual users should use the recommended versions of Jobsub submission and KX.509 software. All changes have been embedded into this software and are transparent to the user.
