The first baby bison of 2017 was born on Wednesday, April 12. The baby, born prematurely and unable to stand on its own, remains under close watch by Cleo Garcia, FESS Site Services, and a veterinarian. FESS employees have been hand feeding the baby calf formula around the clock and helping him to stand.
As of today, Thursday, the baby is able to stand with assistance. He is located out-of-sight inside of the barn to keep him sheltered and comfortable. Please refrain from visiting the bison barn area at this time and respect the Fermilab employees providing baby bison care.
Updates on the bison’s status will be posted on Fermilab at Work. If you receive calls or questions from the media, please refer them to the Office of Communication, ext. 3351.
