About 25 Fermilab employees, users and contractors, in addition to the lab’s Roads and Grounds crew, came out for an Arbor Day tree planting on May 17. (Arbor Day was officially April 28.)
They planted 48 trees and bushes of varieties including hazelnut, musclewood, nannyberry, ninebark, redbud, shagbark hickory and white pine. This year the new trees were planted by the Short-Baseline Neutrino Far Detector and Near Detector buildings, near the MINOS building.
The Roads and Grounds Department coordinated the effort and served lunch afterward.
