On July 7 and 8, 10 members of Fermilab staff promoted the laboratory at Railroad Days, a summer fair in West Chicago.
Railroad Days is four days of family entertainment at Pioneer Park. It includes band performances, carnival rides, a 5K walk and run and the Railroad Days Parade.
Fermilab hosted a tent at the fair, and employees shared the lab’s research with visitors. They invited fair attendees to visit Fermilab, especially Wilson Hall’s 15th floor, and to come to the laboratory’s big Open House on Sept. 23.
Staff also guided kids and grown-ups through a few magnetic-force demos, one of which showed how particles move through a linear accelerator.
