Registration is now open to the public for our Community Open House on Sept. 23, and interest is strong: More than 9,000 people have already signed up to attend. I’m writing to ask all of you — employees and users — to do two things that will help make this the biggest and best open house in Fermilab’s 50-year history.
First, please share the Open House website at 50.fnal.gov/openhouse with your family, friends and neighbors. The website includes details about what visitors will be able to see and do from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 23, important pre-visit information, and — most importantly — a link for visitors to register.
Second, please visit http://communication.fnal.gov/openhouse/ to view the available Open House roles and sign up for a half-day or full-day shift. Lunch and free t-shirts and hats will be provided to all Open House staff. As of today we have filled about 250 of the approximately 500 shifts that are needed to ensure a great Open House for everyone. From the same website you can also view instructions about how to schedule and charge your time during the Open House week.
Community members, lab staff and users can contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 630-840-3351 with any questions about the Open House.
On behalf of the large labwide team that is planning this major community outreach event, thank you for helping get the word out about our biggest open house in 20 years and for helping make it a success!
Katie Yurkewicz is the Fermilab assistant director for communications.
