As we all gear up for the end of the holiday season, your FSPA officers (pictured with festive additions) would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
As many of you may be aware, we have been busy organizing events since being elected at the end of October, from the Halloween party, to a Thanksgiving Potluck (pictured), and two career events.
The Thanksgiving Potluck saw an unconventional Thanksgiving dinner, with no turkey or cranberries but plenty of delicious food representing the wide range of cultural backgrounds that we have at the lab.
The Career Panel featured Wilson and Lederman fellows as well as senior scientists, who gave advice taken from their own experiences to those thinking about applying for jobs at national labs such as Fermilab. Feedback from this was very positive, and so we are planning on holding a similar discussion in the new year, which will focus on applying for faculty positions at universities.
Finally, we are already working hard on the planning for events in the new year, including an event involving the Users Executive Committee, New Perspectives, and the career event mentioned above!
We look forward to seeing you all in 2018.
