The Finance Section’s Procurement team has been busy with activity across the lab that affects many Fermilab staff members.
In late April, the updated FRA Procurement Policy and Procedures Manual (PPPM) was fully approved by the Fermi Site Office. This caps an extended effort to update and improve the information available to the lab. Here are some notable changes:
- Noncompetitive procurements: The justification for noncompetitive procurement (sole source) threshold has changed to match the micropurchase threshold: $10,000. This means that users now need to provide justifications for noncompetitive procurements valued at $10,000 or more. Of course, competitive procurements continue to be the preferred method of procurement for all needs.
- Simplified acquisitions: The simplified acquisition threshold has increased from $150,000 to $250,000, which streamlines the acquisition process.
- Interentity work orders (IEWO): An IEWO process now streamlines how IEWOs are handled.
Your Procurement team is available to answer any questions you may have about these updates. We’re also continuing to work on process improvements to further streamline procurement procedures to better serve the lab.
You can access the PPPM via this link (you must be on the Fermilab network).
