On May 3, Karen Kosky became the new head of the Facilities Engineering Services Section (FESS). She takes over from Kent Collins, who served as the head of the office for four years. Karen will lead the Section through several transformative initiatives including the conclusion of the Utilities Upgrade Project, the expansion of a Centralized Facility Management program, and construction of the Integrated Engineering Research Center.
Kosky has served as the deputy head of FESS since 2016. Prior to Fermilab, she was the sustainability and environmental programs manager at Argonne National Laboratory, and held positions with Kane County, most recently as the manager of resource conservation programs. Kosky previously served as the vice-chair of the Batavia Planning Commission for six years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in agricultural and biological engineering at Purdue University.
