Celebrating Fermilab-Wakandacon partnership: “Black Panther” screening July 19 at Kuhn Barn

It’s summer, and nothing says summer like a movie in the park. Or, in our case, outside a barn.

Join us for a screening of “Black Panther” outside Kuhn Barn on Friday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy good food, good company and award-winning entertainment! MacArthur’s Restaurant, a minority business enterprise in Chicago’s South Austin neighborhood, will provide the food. (If it rains, we’ll move the screening into the barn.)

To gauge attendance, fill out this short Google form if you plan to attend.

Why all the fuss? We’re celebrating Fermilab’s partnership with the second annual Wakandacon in Chicago later this month. Wakandacon is a three-day Afro-Futuristic celebration for comic nerds, pop culture buffs, big thinkers, techies, creatives, storytellers, gamers, science geeks, dreamers, makers, movers, shakers and anyone contributing to the culture. The event is inclusive, and all are welcome to come celebrate together.

Fermilab will have a booth at the festival, and we’re looking for folks to staff it. If you can help, please tell us by completing this Google form.

We thank the Fermilab Student and Postdoc Association and the Fermilab African American Laboratory Resource Group for sponsoring the “Black Panther” screening.

Sandra Charles is the Fermilab talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion manager. Jessica Esquivel is a Fermilab scientist.
