The current Fermilab shuttle service will transition from an on-call service to a fixed route schedule beginning on Aug. 5. The shuttle route will be similar to how a bus route operates in many major communities. There will be an established time that the bus appears at a designated location – the bus stop – throughout the Fermilab site. Maps of the scheduled stops are online.

Effort has been made to develop the shuttle route to accommodate the most common locations visited by our current passenger base. Specifically, feedback from the Employee Advisory Group, the Users Executive Committee, passengers and attendees at parking brown bag lunches were taken into consideration to transition to a fixed route and the development of a schedule. This new shuttle route format will also incorporate the identified current lab needs with the expected needs of remote parking lots for the upcoming closure of the Wilson Hall east parking lot, which is expected to begin on Aug. 12.

With these changes comes an expanded service. The shuttle route will operate until 6:20 p.m. We will revisit and potentially modify the initial bus route after approximately three months to provide the best and most efficient delivery of the service. We expect this to be a major adjustment for the patrons of the current shuttle service, but we hope to provide a quality service for the majority of the lab. Once the route has been established, please send questions or comments to taxi@fnal.gov for review and consideration.
