Windows 7 upgrade to Windows 10 starting Tuesday, Aug. 6

Dear Windows 7 users,

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
The Desktop Engineering group will be upgrading lab-owned computers running Windows 7 to Windows 10. This upgrade will be a rolling upgrade over several weeks; we will send you another email with the specific date you will be upgraded.

WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?
The rolling upgrade will start with a pilot group beginning Tuesday, Aug. 6.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
• The upgrade will take place after business hours on your migration day.
• Existing data and applications will be retained. It is still a good practice to back up critical data before a major upgrade of this nature.
• The first time you log in after the upgrade, you may see the Windows 10 first-sign-in animation.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
If you are aware of any software that will not run on Windows 10, notify the Service Desk immediately.

You will receive another email with the specific date on which you will be upgraded. Before leaving the office on your upgrade day, please make sure your Windows 10 PC is turned on (laptops should have the lid left open) and connected to the Fermilab network.
