Learn the basics of proposal preparation with Argonne’s David McCallum

Fermilab’s Office of Partnerships and Technology Transfer and the Fermilab Young Professionals group cordially invite you to attend “Basics of Proposal Preparation” presented by David McCallum, the New Program Capture Manager in Argonne’s TCP Division. The session will take place at IARC Lecture Hall on Monday, Dec. 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and is structured as a presentation followed by a Q&A session. This presentation is for anyone who currently or may in the future write proposals for sponsorships, grants, or other funding sources. McCallum will discuss the key activities that take place before, during, and after proposal writing including:

  • Developing an understanding of sponsor needs and wants.
  • Reviewing and analyzing the solicitation to extract information about proposal contents and format.
  • Structuring the proposal to meet the needs of the reviewer.
  • Understanding the review process.

McCallum provides writing and strategy support for Argonne staff members who are involved in proposal preparation. He previously served as vice president for business development with MicroLink Devices as well as with numerous small businesses in roles including fundraising, technology development, and commercialization.
