Pidgin and Adium will be retired on Thursday, Feb. 27

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Pidgin (Windows) and Adium (OSX), open source instant messaging clients, are being retired due to security concerns. We encourage you to use Cisco Jabber instead for intralab instant messaging (IM) communications. With Cisco Jabber, in addition to instant messaging, you can see when and where people are available and collaborate through group chats.

You can install Cisco Jabber through Self Service or the Software Center. For installation instructions, see this article: https://fermi.service-now.com/wp?id=kb_article&sys_id=KB0012539

For instructions on how to use Cisco Jabber, see this article https://fermi.service-now.com/wp?id=kb_article&sys_id=KB0012603

WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?
Thursday, Feb. 27

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
Pidgin and Adium will no longer be supported by Fermilab.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Please be aware of this change, and if you need an instant messaging client for intralab communications, we encourage you to use Cisco Jabber.
