Public DocDBs will be changed to use SSL encryption (https) Tuesday, Feb. 18

Dear DocDB users,

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Computing will change centrally managed public DocDBs to use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption (https instead of http).

WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?
Tuesday, Feb. 18; 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. Central Time

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
• Links to public DocDB documents or images using the old http URL will be automatically redirected to the new https URL, so they still work.
• Centrally managed DocDB instances may be down for a few minutes within the maintenance window.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
• If you have a script that accesses DocDB and you have not already been contacted, please e-mail docdb-support@fnal.gov.
• Starting from 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, web, document and script authors should use URLs starting with https (instead of http) when they create or update documents, webpages and scripts that contain links to public DocDB documents or images. Here is an example:
Old URL: http://cd-docdb.fnal.gov/DocumentDatabase
New URL: https://cd-docdb.fnal.gov/DocumentDatabase
(The only change is adding an “s” after “http”.)
