Entrepreneurship for Science and Medicine

The Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is hosting a free, non-credit course introducing and exploring the process of research commercialization with an emphasis on an introduction to business concepts.

The course is taught by 2019 Fermilab Inventor Recognition Ceremony keynote speaker Robert Altman, adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Polsky.

About the instructor:

Robert Altman, MBA ‘88, adjunct professor of entrepreneurship, serves on the board of directors of Toltec Pharmaceuticals, Preora Diagnostics and Output Medical. In addition to his leadership position of president at Pinnacle Biologics (the U.S.-based subsidiary of Concordia Healthcare), Altman also served as CEO and president of Marathon Pharmaceuticals, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Astellas Pharma, and held several senior positions during a 17-year career at Abbott Laboratories.

Altman has had a long career in executive roles for both mature and emerging biotech and pharmaceutical businesses. He earned his PhD in chemistry from Harvard University, his MBA in finance and marketing from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from University of California, Riverside.
