Out of an abundance of caution, we are shifting the start date of the FY20 Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Practicum to May 7. Registration is now open at https://indico.fnal.gov/e/OPTTPracticum2020.
When the expectation is on you to find the funding for your proposal or when your focus is on invention commercialization, how do you articulate your value proposition? To communicate the value of your work, you must understand what the customer is looking for.
The Office of Partnerships and Technology Transfer will host Cohort 2 of the Fermilab Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Practicum. We are inviting all inventors, creators, and entrepreneurs to participate in this eight-week short course, which is intended for Fermilab researchers interested in connecting their work with direct societal impact. Students will be exposed to core entrepreneurship and commercialization concepts and will have the opportunity to practice their skills through a small team learning environment.
Based on feedback from last year’s highly successful Cohort 1, we are modifying the schedule for the course. We are also considering modifications to the instructional format, in the event the need to maintain social distance remains a priority to protect the health and well-being of all students, instructors, their colleagues and families.
The course is scheduled for eight consecutive Thursdays, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the IARC Building, starting May 7 and ending June 25. The earlier time has been established to accommodate working parents who are dependent upon availability of daycare. As an added benefit, students may apply for partial funding to help offset costs to your home division, center or project.
All technical professionals are welcome. Your attendance is recommended if you are:
- An LDRD principal investigator
- An inventor or software creator interested in seeing your technology commercialized
- A researcher seeking external funding for your work.
To get the maximum value from this training opportunity, we encourage students to both “bring your own technology” and “bring your own team”.
