WHAT ARE WE DOING?
macOS High Sierra (v10.13) is approaching its end-of-life (EOL). When EOL occurs, macOS High Sierra will no longer be supported by Apple and therefore will stop receiving security updates.
Starting Wednesday, Nov. 4, any Mac computer running macOS High Sierra (v10.13) will be blocked from accessing the Fermilab network. Fermilab-owned computers, by laboratory policy, must run vendor-supported operating systems to avoid security risks.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
If your Mac is running macOS High Sierra (v10.13), you must upgrade it to macOS Catalina (v10.15) or Mojave (v10.14) before Wednesday, Nov. 4.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
• To upgrade your Mac on your own, open the “Self Service” application and choose the “Upgrade to macOS Catalina 10.15” or “Upgrade to macOS Mojave 10.14” option.
• If you need assistance, please submit a Service Desk ticket to request an upgrade to macOS Catalina (v10.15) or macOS Mojave (v10.14).
• If you have an old Mac that can’t be upgraded, please begin planning the replacement or decommissioning of the Mac. Contact the Service Desk if you need assistance.
