macOS Big Sur v11 NOT certified for Fermilab use

Dear Mac users,

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Apple has recently released the latest version of macOS, Big Sur (v11). Computing is currently evaluating macOS Big Sur to ensure that the new macOS is compatible with the various central management services, configuration and security policies and that it complies with the existing macOS baseline.

In the meantime, if you are presented with an Apple update notification that macOS Big Sur is available, do not install the new operating system. Please remember, running an unsupported version of macOS violates the macOS baseline and can result in a network block.

WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?
When Computing completes the evaluation and approval process for macOS Big Sur (v11), you will receive an email that it has been approved for use at Fermilab. At that time, an upgrade installer will be provided in the Self-Service application, or you may submit a request to have it installed on your computer. There will be no cost for this upgrade.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
This is for your information only. There will be no immediate changes to Fermilab services regarding your current operating system.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
If you are presented with an Apple update notification that macOS Big Sur is available, please do not install the new operating system until you receive the email that it has been approved for use at Fermilab.
