File server cluster critical security patching with brief downtime Tuesday, Jan. 5

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Computing will be installing critical security patches on one of the central file server clusters.

WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?
Tuesday, Jan. 5; 4 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
During the maintenance window, the following file servers will have two brief outages that last 1-30 seconds:
homesrv01, filesrv01, filesrv02, finsrv44, blue1, filesrv-app, cdserver,
cdfserver1, d0server6, d0server4, dirserver1, eshserver1, lsserver,
numiserver, ppdserver, pseekits, tdserver1, tdfiler

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
• During the maintenance window, avoid opening files on the file servers listed above.
• If possible, Windows and Mac users should log off their computers when leaving work on Monday, Jan. 4.
• Windows and Mac users who experience issues with file services after 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5 should reboot their computers.
• UNIX/Linux system administrators, please check your NFS mounts after the maintenance window and perform re-mounts if needed.
