Removing Adobe Flash Player on Tuesday, March 2

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Computing will be removing any standalone Flash Players from Fermilab-supported Windows and macOS computers. Adobe discontinued support for browser-based Flash Players on Dec. 31, 2020 and began blocking Flash from running on their standalone Flash Player on Jan. 12, 2021. As a result, Safari, Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer and Firefox have removed Flash from their browsers.

WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?
Tuesday, March 2

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
Desktop Engineering and Fermilab application owners have determined that removing Flash will not affect applications. On March 2, Desktop Engineering will begin the removal process. This process runs in the background, does not require a reboot, and does not require any user interaction.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
On Tuesday, March 2, please ensure you have:

• Powered on your computer
• Logged in to your computer
• Connected to the Fermilab network (VPN for off-site)
