Kerberos upgrade Tuesday, May 11

Dear Kerberos users,

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Computing will be upgrading the Kerberos version running on KDC (Key Distribution Center) servers to version 1.18, and this upgrade cannot be rolled back.

WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?
Tuesday, May 11; 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Central Time

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
After the upgrade, DES and 3DES encryption types will not be allowed to work in Fermilab Kerberos realms even if users manually change configuration files to allow them. As communicated in this previous announcement, krb5.conf was upgraded on April 1 to disallow DES and 3DES encryption types.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
You don’t need to take any action. This message is for your information only.
