WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Computing will be performing a software update that will require a downtime of the batch services (SLURM) on the Wilson Institutional Cluster (IC) head node, wc.fnal.gov. A reservation will be put in place so that all batch jobs will be finished before the outage begins. Any jobs in the queue before the outage will be held for dispatch after the downtime.
During this downtime, we will upgrade SLURM to the latest release including security mitigations.
WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?
Wednesday, June 30; 9 a.m. Central Time
The batch services will be released as soon as the work is completed. We expect this work to take no more than eight hours, but downtime is being set for 24 hours.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
All batch processing on the Wilson IC will be held during the maintenance window. Job dispatch will be restarted once the maintenance work is complete. Interactive use of the head node will not be affected.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Please be aware of the maintenance work and plan accordingly.
