After more than 42 years at Fermilab, Debra Baddorf will retire on Thursday, Sept. 23. She began as an operator from 1979 through 1986, then she was a systems administrator in Epicure from 1986 till 1996. In 1996, she became a programmer and backup administrator.
Deb has a fond memory of riding a golf cart around the Main Ring (and later the Tevatron) tunnel, to search and secure the tunnel for the beam.
As a system administrator, she remembers staying after hours to install operating system software when users weren’t presented and then sleeping under her desk when she had to undo one upgrade, which had failed.
Deb is moving out of state to be closer to family. She plans to read, do stitchery while listening to audio books, and do some quilting too.
We wish Deb all the best in her future endeavors!
