Two projects at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory—LBNF/DUNE-US and Mu2e—will see leadership changes in November.
The LBNF/DUNE-US project welcomes Ron Ray as its new deputy project director. Ray will work with Project Director Chris Mossey and the project team to navigate critical upcoming DOE reviews and eventually move into full construction.
Ray brings considerable DOE 413 project experience from his time as the leader of the Mu2e project and deputy project manager for NOvA. Ray will begin transitioning into his new position in November.
Julie Whitmore will assume the role of the Mu2e project manager. Whitmore has served as deputy project manager of Mu2e since 2014 and helped guide the project through the DOE approval process. Whitmore is a frequent reviewer of other DOE projects and has significant experience in building and commissioning particle physics experiments.
Prior to Mu2e, Whitmore played critical roles on the CMS and KTeV projects and has served in a management position in the Muon department of the Particle Physics Division.
“Mu2e remains a laboratory priority, and we are fortunate that Julie is available to seamlessly step into this role and successfully complete this critical project,” said Fermilab Director Nigel Lockyer.
