After considerable review and analysis, the Engineering Committee, working with Human Resources and with approval from senior leadership, has approved the addition of two new job profiles to Fermilab’s Engineering Family – effective immediately. These new positions will be at the A5 and A7 pay grades. The table below lists the engineering job titles, with the new profiles in bold.

The profiles are being added to address concerns raised by engineers via a variety of feedback mechanisms, including the Climate Survey:
- Desire for enhanced early career opportunities at the Lab
- Ensure alignment of engineer salaries with the market
- Improve satisfaction with career progression
These concerns were addressed through analyses of market data and practices of other DOE labs. The HR team put forward a proposal for the addition of two new positions based on the findings of the analyses. This solution will offer a positive and competitive career experience to Fermilab engineers.
