All unsupported versions of Oracle Java will be uninstalled from centrally managed Windows computers Tuesday, Dec. 7

Dear Windows users,

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
All unsupported versions of Oracle Java will be uninstalled from centrally managed Windows computers, except for computers in the Accelerator Division. Old versions of Oracle Java have reached their end-of-life and current versions of Oracle Java are not licensed for use at the lab.

WHEN WILL THIS OCCUR?
Tuesday, Dec. 7; starting at 5 a.m. Central Time

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?
• As soon as your centrally managed Windows computer connects to the Fermilab network (either onsite or via VPN) on Tuesday, Dec. 7, all unsupported versions of Oracle Java will be uninstalled.
• Applications used via https://sage.fnal.gov that require Oracle Java will not be affected by this uninstallation.
• Since Teamcenter is using Amazon Corretto Java and not Oracle Java, this uninstallation will not impact Teamcenter users.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Users who need Oracle Java should seek advice on using open-source alternatives by opening a Service Desk ticket.

If you encounter any issues after the uninstallation, please contact the Service Desk.
