Network node registration upgrade Dec. 8-downtime required

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

The Core Computing Division is modernizing and streamlining the node registration process.

Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 8, the process of registering node names, IP addresses, aliases, etc., will be done in ServiceNow. In a second phase in the future, we will change the hardware registration process.

A downtime will be required on Dec. 8 to complete the upgrade.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT TO YOU?

On Wednesday, Dec. 8, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT, you will be unable to register IP/FQDN/CNAME information. Once the update is complete, we will send an announcement with instructions on how to access the forms in ServiceNow.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

Watch for an email message from Computing-Announcements@fnal.gov on Wednesday, Dec. 8, indicating that the upgrade is complete before attempting to use the network node registration forms in ServiceNow.
