Clarification and correction regarding site access and activities

On March 28, the Batavia site reopened to the public for outdoor activities; the Lederman Science Center also reopened. An all-hands message was sent that included the following information:

Prohibited public use of the Fermilab site includes operation of drones. Fishing, ice skating and dog walking/dog run are currently not allowed. All outdoor activities must take place on designated site paths, trails or roads. This also applies to employees, users and affiliates.

Clarification

  • Employees, users, affiliates and the public are not permitted to operate drones on site.
  • Employees, users, affiliates and the public are not currently allowed to fish, ice skate, or walk dogs or use the dog run. Service animals are permitted on site.

Correction

  • When participating in outdoor activities, the public must stay on designated site paths, trails or roads.
  • When participating in outdoor activities, badged employees, users and affiliates are not restricted to the designated site paths, trails or roads.
