HR introduces enhanced SPOT Award program

Fermilab’s SPOT Awards have a new look … introducing the Giftogram.

Any Fermilab employee who has received a SPOT Award from a colleague or supervisor knows what a thrill it is to be recognized for their efforts. Starting today, that thrill gets even better, as the SPOT Award program now offers a new enhancement that makes it even more meaningful and useful to receive.

As of today, SPOT Award recipients will receive a $25 digital certificate known as a “Giftogram.” These Giftograms are sent directly to their Fermilab emails and allow the recipient to select an electronic gift card from over 200 retailers. What’s more, the $25 award can be divided between multiple retailers, so you can order a $10 e-gift card from Starbucks and a $15 e-gift card from Walmart, for example.

“The enhanced SPOT Award program is designed to provide a greater degree of flexibility and choice to recipients,” said Chief Human Resources Officer Anju Jain. “We are very excited to offer this new capability, as this is something people have been asking for.”

One thing that hasn’t changed is the purpose behind the program. SPOT Awards are intended to recognize employees or teams for accomplishments in one of the following areas: teamwork and collaboration efforts; innovation and creativity; process improvement/cost savings; demonstrated management competencies; customer service/customer focus; or technical achievements.

As always, any supervisor or peer can nominate a qualified employee using the nomination form available in Workday. Additional details on the SPOT Award program, including award eligibility, can be found on HR’s Rewards, Awards and Recognition website.
