Amanda Early joins EDI Office as STEM Ambassador

Amanda Early, who has served as an Education Program Leader in Fermilab’s Office of Education and Public Engagement since 2016, joins the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion as the lab’s STEM ambassador.

In her new role, she will coordinate grant funding efforts that leverage Department of Energy Office of Science world-unique national laboratories, user facilities and other research infrastructures to provide science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning, training, and research experiences to undergraduate and graduate scholars attending MSIs (Minority Serving Institutions),HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), HSIs (Hispanic Serving Institutions) and TSUs (Tribal Colleges and Universities).

Early will focus on increasing the participation and retention of underrepresented groups in Office of Science research priority areas (microelectronics, critical materials, quantum information science (QIS), artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), exascale computing, integrated computational and data infrastructure for scientific discovery, and accelerator science and technology).
