On Oct. 31, the IERC project achieved authorization for use and possession for the newly constructed building. This significant milestone, also known as substantial completion, allows for some access of the building for Fermilab groups
to begin the transition to operations process. This also means that the vast majority of construction is complete, to the point that the building systems are operational and are in process of being commissioned.
Construction is expected to continue through the end of 2022, including paving, landscaping and other minor close-out items. Because the building is still an active construction site, access is limited, and the construction site safety procedures are still in place. Once construction is complete, the project can then continue the transition to an operations process as furniture, network equipment and other equipment to enable full building operations arrive. Look for more announcements regarding the building opening to more staff as the team completes this work.
Congratulations and thank you to the project team and many others from around the lab for supporting this effort!
