Expired badges

Effective August 2, all personnel whose badge has expired or will expire will be required to schedule an appointment with the badging office to pick up a new badge. Badge appointments must be received two business days in advance. No walk-in or same-day badge appointments will be accepted. Please make sure you arrive during your scheduled time slot. The Housing Office will be accepting reservation requests June 28 through July 9 for house and apartment occupancy beginning August 1. Onsite housing is available for rent to users/affiliates and employees with term appointments who are currently or will be considered essential personnel by their division or section. An active Fermilab ID badge is required to live in the Village. Onsite housing is not available for permanent employees or members of the general public. Please submit your request using the…

If you are returning onsite to work and have an expired badge please make an appointment with the badging office at badgingoffice@fnal.gov. Also make sure you are listed on the essential or daily list. Contact your division or section point of contact to get added to the list.

The Department of U.S. Homeland Security has extended the REAL ID Act requirement to May 3, 2023. Fermilab, however, will continue to require valid REAL ID- compliant documents for all badged personnel as of June 30, 2021. The Badging Office is continuing to notify personnel who are non-compliant. More information can be found at https://eshq.fnal.gov/realid/.

Retiree badges

Due to recent changes in the lab’s Site Security Plan, we are no longer issuing Retiree (RT) badges for retirees who are not in Retiree Guest (GSR) or Scientist Emeritus (SE) statuses. Retiree Guest and Scientist Emeritus statuses are approved through the employees’ Division/Sections offices. If you have questions, please send email to badgingoffice@fnal.gov.

Expired badges for employees who are listed on the essential on-site list are being reviewed and reprinted once the employee’s supervisor has reviewed key assignments. The badges will be available at the Security Communication Center for pick-up. Employees must bring in their expired badge to receive the new one. Please note that effective Monday, April 27, the Badging Office will be open by appointment only. Please submit your appointment request to badgingoffice@fnal.gov 48 hours prior to your requested day and time. Subcontractors – Current or new subcontractors will receive a badge at this time if they are on the essential personnel list. Please note that access approvals and issuance of badges during the next couple of weeks will be slower than usual due to limited staff during the holidays. No approvals will be completed on Thursday, January 2 and Friday, January 3, 2020.  Please have staff, users and visitors plan accordingly.  

New user orientation

New Users who will be at the lab 90 days or more within the calendar year will now be able to register to attend New User Orientation.  This is a pilot for the next two months; therefore, we needed to add this to Users ITNA.  It will send a notification every week; however, it is not a required course.  The User has the ability to register on-line for a future session.
