We are saddened to bring the news that our friend and colleague Tom Ferbel died at home on March 13, 2022, at age 84. Tom was active in experiments at Fermilab from the very beginning back in the 1970s when he worked on one of the original bubble chamber experiments. He was part of the E706 direct photon experiment in the 1990s and from then until now a member of the DZero experiment at the Tevatron collider. In DZero, Tom was…

We are saddened to bring the news of Gene Fisk’s death on Jan. 10, 2022, in Philadelphia where he had been living with his wife Jeanie. Although Gene retired in 2011, he continued to be active in DZero. Yuri began work on the DZero forward muon system in the late 1990s, developing the design and then participating in the construction, installation and commissioning of the mini-drift-tube-based system. During Tevatron Run II, Yuri tirelessly took shifts supporting experiment operations and developed initial ideas for the search of the cascade…

On July 27, DZero submitted two papers to Physical Review D. One was published on Oct. 13, and the other was accepted for publication on Dec. 9. These two papers constitute a tie for the 499th and 500th publications by the DZero collaboration. It is a noteworthy accomplishment, and DZero has joined a select club.
