As a corporate member, Fermilab annually offers a limited number of professional memberships to the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). This membership is open any full- or part-time employee working in a STEM field, regardless of their gender identity. All that is required is to share a vision for gender parity in STEM fields. Registration is still open for Cohort 4: Entrepreneurship and Commercialization which is scheduled to start Thursday, June 23. Classes will meet every Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. in a hybrid format through August 18. After almost 37 years at Fermilab, Jim Strait will retire on July 7 to become Project Director of the Next Generation Cosmic Microwave Background Project, CMB-S4.  Strait will join the staff of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) to take on the project leadership role in CMB-S4, which is the largest collaborative undertaking yet to explore the relic light emitted by the infant universe. In honor of LGBTQ+ Pride month, the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Spectrum will co-host LGBTQ+ Safe Zone training on Friday, June 24, from 1-2:30 p.m., CT. An interactive presentation created especially for the Fermilab community by the Spectrum LRG on creating welcoming and inclusive spaces. The Wilson Hall north atrium canopy roof replacement project has begun. Scaffold erection is in progress, and the roof demolition and replacement process will follow. This project has been estimated to take three to four weeks for completion.
