The Fermi Community Orchestra will present the concert, “New World,” at 7 p.m., Sunday, March 12, at the Batavia United Methodist Church, 8 N. Batavia Ave., Batavia. This is a free concert. The concert will feature Antonin Dvorak’s “New World Symphony” (movements I, II, IV) and music from prominent composers from the Americas, including Astor Piazzola’s well-known “Libertango.” The Fermi Strings Orchestra and the Fermi Flutes will precede the full FCO.

Martha Michels, the interim director of contractor assurance at Fermilab, will permanently fill the role. Jemila Adetunji has been named deputy director of contractor assurance and will report to Martha. Jemila will also continue in her current role as head of the lab’s quality assurance department. With the increased number of people coming to work on site in Batavia in recent months, the lab has been receiving input from employees, users, and affiliates regarding parking availability at Wilson Hall. Specifically, the request was to increase the number of temporary spaces (i.e., two-hour time limit) to accommodate people traveling from other areas of the Batavia site to Wilson Hall for short periods of time. Effective March 1, the Taher Fresh Seasons Café will extend its hours of operation for the grill station and grab-and-go options (pre-made salads and sandwiches, chips, candy and so on), and remain open until 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
