On Wednesday, April 19 at 11 a.m., the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility will be hosting a virtual presentation by Kathryn Jepsen, Editor-in-chief of Symmetry magazine at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, “Symmetry style guide: Writing about people with dignity.” The style guide for Symmetry has traditionally answered questions such as, “Should there be a hyphen in high-energy physics?” and “What should you call Rubin Observatory on first reference?” But writing about scientific research also involves writing about the…

From New Scientist: Join Fermilab scientist Don Lincoln on April 4 for a presentation on Fermilab: Solving the Mysteries of Matter and Energy, Space and Time. Here he will explain how America’s flagship particle physics facility has taught us so much about our universe and how it works. Pre-registration is required.

We are looking for a new home or homes for our two kittens. Maus and Elfine turned one year old on February 6. They are sisters and get along very well but are also independent so they could go to the same home or different homes. They are spayed and declawed in the front and are up to date on all their shots. They go outside and are excited that the weather is getting better. They love to play and…

From Big Think, March 24, 2023: CERN’s ForwArd Search ExpeRiment detector proved to be the an ideal detector in searching for extremely high-energy neutrinos. Recently, CERN scientists and researchers used this data to better understand high-energy neutrinos from space. With this new knowledge, astronomers can better understand what happens when neutron stars collide and some of the most spectacular and rarest of cosmic phenomena.
