- Feb. 17 - Feb. 21, 2020
The celebration of National Engineers Week was started in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers in conjunction with President George Washington’s birthday. President Washington is considered as the nation’s first engineer, notably for his survey work. It is observed by more than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, and more than 50 corporations and government agencies. The purpose of National Engineers Week is to call attention to the contributions to society that engineers make.
This year, National Engineers Week is February 17-21. In that same spirit, the EAC’s Annual Engineer Retreat will be comprised of a week-long series of events to highlight Fermilab’s own engineering community.
The primary goals of these events are the following:
1. To increase awareness of current active initiatives at the lab
2. To facilitate professional networking within the lab
3. To provide training of common tools by leveraging internal subject matters experts
