Inclusion Matters 2023: Black Inventors Hall of Fame Museum

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m., the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and the African American/Black Association will honor Black History Month by hosting a virtual presentation by James Howard, Executive Director of Black Inventors Hall of Fame Museum. Howard will give a presentation focused on the importance of the museum and showcase some of the inventors. It will also include a virtual walk-through of the museum and a Q&A at the end of the presentation.

As an innovator and designer, Mr. Howard has amassed more than 18 patents on everything from household appliances to cardiovascular delivery systems to neonatal pressure relief valves. For nearly 15 years, 1987 to 2002, Howard owned and operated one of the country’s leading minority owned industrial design firms -Howard Design. His clients include many fortune 100 companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Colgate Palmolive, and Coca-Cola. He counts as one of his more unique client experiences – serving for nearly six years as an independent design consultant to the CIA. From 2002 onward, Howard has devoted his life to higher education and to teaching design and creative skills to the general public. For 15 years he served as a full-time tenured professor at a local community college where he developed a precedent setting Design program intended to facilitate the transfer of credits to four and five year design institutions. His latest passion has led him to the creation of Entrepreneurial U. LLC. A private career school accredited by the NJDOE and the NJDOL and described as Morris County NJ’s First School of Design Thinking.
