This week we are pleased to host Pranava Teja Surukuchi from Yale University who will give a seminar on Direct Measurement of Neutrino Mass with Project 8. Please join us on Thursday at 1 PM Central Time.
The Project 8 experiment is designed to directly measure the electron-weighted neutrino mass using the novel technique called Cyclotron Radiation Emission Spectroscopy (CRES). Using the cyclotron frequency of the beta decay electrons as a proxy for kinetic energy, the experiment aims to measure the endpoint spectrum of magnetically trapped electrons from tritium beta-decay to reach a mass sensitivity of 40 meV/c2. Following the successful demonstration of CRES with waveguides, the upcoming phase of the experiment will demonstrate CRES for larger volumes paving the way for the final phase of the experiment. This talk will give an overview of the Project 8 experimental program highlighting the current efforts towards demonstration of larger volume CRES.
Zoom connection details and instructions can be found below; in the interest of a productive online seminar we would appreciate it if you review the guidelines for the meeting above the link.
