In September 2021, new time charging codes were launched for Fermilab employees who spend time on equity, diversity and inclusion or education and public engagement-related activities. These codes were established to recognize and support participation in EDI and EPE initiatives.

With the support of the entire Fermilab community, the Office of Education and Public Engagement reached across the globe to share Fermilab science during the past fiscal year. EPE head Rebecca Thompson would like to thank everyone who contributed to this success, including the winners of the first annual Awards for Excellence in Education and Public Engagement.

Employees have been asking for a consistent way to charge for time they spend on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion or Education and Public Engagement -related activities. The wait is over — two new time codes have been established: one for time charged to EDI and another for time charged to EPE.

The Office of Education and Public Engagement (EPE) appreciates the time and expertise individuals from the entire lab community contribute to help it meet its education and engagement objectives. To show its appreciation, EPE will hold a virtual lunch and interactive trivia game on Sept. 24 and will also honor a few special individuals at the same time.
