On May 23, the Quality Section released the new Fermilab Quality Tool Suite, or FQTS, as well as updates to the existing Human Performance Improvement database.
The FQTS is a compilation of three databases used to document and track issues identified, lessons learned and scheduled assessments.
Over the course of the next year, the Quality Section will work with the rest of the lab to develop processes and systems that will enable us to successfully meet Nigel Lockyer’s objective of “growing the quality program across the lab in business systems and engineering.” We’ll assist staff in understanding how the integration of a vibrant and dynamic Quality Assurance Program can have a positive impact on how we do our work.
Documenting and following up on issues that we identify at the laboratory is a key part of the issues management process.
Quality software has always been a priority at the laboratory. Our current effort – to help ensure that the software we develop and use meets performance requirements and specifications – involves revisions to Fermilab’s existing Software Quality Assurance (SQA) program.
